Famous World Leaders January 2010

weekend in Miami and Key West

First week on the basis of Pensacola and as you'll see my schedule is fairly "light":
- Monday morning tour of the base from 8am to 9.30am.
- Tuesday visit to the dentist from 10am to 11am.
- Wednesday, returning to the dentist for more than two hours of care from 10am to noon while my teeth were fine!
- And on Thursday morning appointment at 7am for the first part of ; my medical (urine, blood, test the hearing and Radio of the lungs) that lasted until 10:30.
- Friday: Rest!

During this week we learn that Monday, January 17th is a holiday in the U.S. : The Martin Luther King Day. We decide to enjoy this weekend of four days available to us to arrange a short stay last minute in South Florida: Miami Beach and therefore management Key West.

From 13 to 17 January 2011:

Thursday afternoon, we take off from the airport in Pensacola and after a stop in Atlanta, we landed in Miami at 21h and join our Hotel in Miami Beach.

On Friday we begin our tour along the most famous beach of Miami Beach: South Beach. This white sand beach just outside the buildings, stretches out of sight. The only people who are working rescuers although the beach is not crowded at this time of year they are found every 300 yards in their first aid station rather original!

We then go Ocean Drive, one of the most festive streets of Miami Beach. It consists mainly of hotels, bars and restaurants. We take this opportunity to take a bite and a cocktail. Little advice, ask the price before you get used to Miami because at $ 25 a cocktail that made a shock when paying the bill! Thank goodness it was very good ...

After the meal, nothing like a nap on the beach to recover from our emotions and refine our tan. Then towards Lincoln Street, the shopping downtown and at this moment that I lost to Amanda Victoria's Secret . Then we end our first day in an Italian restaurant a little further down the street and back on Ocean Drive for a last drink in one of the many bars in the street.

Saturday morning, we leave already our Miami Beach hotel and get our rental car to reach the tip of Florida: Key West. On the road, we stop at the Everglades National Park, where we'll go for a hovercraft to encounter alligators in the middle of swamps. It was pretty awesome! But we were not at the end of our surprises, because after this little trip we are seeing a show where a trainer alligators surrounded by 6 explains how they work, and even have the chance to carry a baby alligator!

We leave for more then 3 hours of endless road at 50 mph average (80 km / h) between the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico, from island to island (Keys). The bridges will follow (including the Seven Mile Bridge, 11 km long) throughout this section. The road was very pretty but Good God, why the U.S. can build roads to 2 x 8 channels around some major cities do not make a damn road 2 times 2-way limited to Key West more than 80 km / h? ! Looks like our journey

We arrive just in time for dinner and let us eat in the busiest street in Key West: Duval Street. To give us the trip, nothing like a little French restaurant! On the menu, Beef Bourguignon Filet Mignon for me and Amanda turned out to be a good beef steak with mushrooms finally. It will review their true recipe filet mignon ... Despite all the meal was very good and we will take a strawberry dessert and a chocolate mousse, what happiness!

On Sunday morning, we visit the city center via Duval Street, the harbor, the Hemingway house and we climb up a lighthouse to enjoy the scenery a bit more. In passing we stop to take pictures of the sign that symbolizes the end of U.S. Highway 1 (U.S. 1). This 3846 km long road runs along the eastern seaboard of the country. From Key West, it goes back up the Canadian border in Maine. We then descend to the southernmost point of continental America symbolized by a marker (the furthest point south of the U.S. is of course in Hawaii if you recall).

After a quick lunch at Camille's , we go to the extreme west of the island at Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park. We spend the afternoon on the beach of the park before going to watch the sunset at Mallory Square. To end our stay, we have dinner at a Cuban restaurant very nice.

Monday, we took the road to Miami where we planned to visit a little town center before returning to the plane, but since it's raining stream, we will finally see Little Fockers (My stepfather and us) to the movies. We arrive at 23h in Pensacola and it is high time to go to bed because I have my medical examination the following day at 6:30!
