Bad Rookie Initiations

Our debut

we are back for new adventures after more than three weeks away.

As you have seen before, we left Pensacola Thursday, January 27 Meridian Management. Constance and Erwan we still have kindly hosted for the weekend because the house we found is not furnished. On Friday program: Open Water, electricity, internet line, cleaning the house ( because nobody has lived for over one year) and find furniture.
For the water was swift, the technicians have come open now. The power company has increased in the post noon and we made an appointment with the Internet company Monday morning. Instead, find furniture "normal" in Mississippi was much harder. We even considered going for a ride to the nearest IKEA is in Atlanta to say, but the 10-hour drive round trip we were definitely discouraged. We finally found some nice furniture and not too expensive on Meridian: two sofas, coffee table, rug, a bed and two bedside tables.
The weekend was devoted to cleaning up afterwards. Between the cobwebs, dust and some stains on the walls we have no stubble. The biggest challenge: the kitchen. That has changed with small kitchenette that we had in Cognac.
Sunday evening we were finally operational to sleep for the first time with us. Nothing like cutlets cream for our first dinner

I did not say before, but my classes at the base of Meridian does not begin until February 14. That left us two weeks to settle down quietly.

From 31 January to 6 February:

So I decided to undertake some renovation work in the house. After mounting the dressing room of our room, I began to re-paint our bathroom. The tapestry in the old American will not last long. Of course in Detapa I realized there was another layer of wallpaper and removing it that much of the plaster came with ...
So I had to redo the plaster before painting. Here is what our bathroom looks like after three days of work:

In the week we finished we equip at "Walmart" (the equivalent of Carrefour in France). Dishes, household appliances, foods, a small TV 46''(116 cm) and even the rest of the furniture that we needed: office, library and TV stand.

so we could organize our hanging rack 5 to Saturday evening. On the menu, aperitif improved anchoïade, and Punch for everyone.

From February 7 to 13:

We have long been reluctant to from rest in the sun for our last week off, but finally we stayed home, tired of all the trips we have done since we left San Antonio.
So I wanted to start taking care of the garden but the weather decided otherwise. A big cold wave hit the United States and the temperatures dropped below zero almost every week. We had freezing rain, hail and even snow Thursday evening. So I pushed my work later ...

This changes us from San Antonio and Pensacola is that with all the French at the lake, there are always parties that organized right to left unexpectedly. Usually on Saturday afternoon we organize a football match between the French on Saturday evening we'll eat in town and since I got an Xbox FIFA tournaments are held regularly at home. Sunday evening is a film on a giant screen at the Embassy (single house). And girls are organized regularly with each meal for lunch followed by afternoon shopping or sewing. So we do not really bored and spend the weekend really too fast.
The program for this Saturday night: Poker Nico and Anne Marie followed by a contest at Just Dance on the Wii:

From February 14 to 21 : Start of "Ground School.

And yes as you can imagine it's the end of the holidays and things became serious. The Ground School
T45. This phase lasts an average ground four weeks during which we learn all aircraft systems, checklists and procedures in force at Meridian. At the end of this phase, I would have my first simulators. Meanwhile we can train ourselves freely in these flight simulators but only when they are not used for instruction, ie from 6am to 7am and from 17h to 22h. My schedule for the next few weeks and rather loaded: run every day from 7:30 to about 15h, followed by a simulation where I managed to reserve one yesterday. We are 6 in my class: 3 drivers in the U.S. Navy, 2 Marines and me.

Tuesday evening we started our first courses in preparation for childbirth with Amanda. This is a wise Women's Hospital (Rush) in which we will deliver Amanda coach. We are 5 pairs in all. Last meeting next Tuesday ...

Friday took place on a French macarronage Pascal which has now ended its flights to T45. We celebrated here on Thursday night between French and then with the entire squadron in a bar in the city on Friday evening.

This week the temperatures rose again sharply. And after beating the record of freshness for the month of February last week with a -7 ° C morning, we beat this week was hotter: 26 ° C Sunday.

Sunday, after installing my golf green in the garden, nothing like a real golf on the base to enjoy the sun.

On Monday, February 21 is a holiday in the United States (Presidents Day: Washington's birthday) we took the opportunity to tend the garden. After a good shot Karcher on the house we burned the big pile of leaves in the garden on the site of our next petanque. Looks like our house and garden now after all that work:

In fact I almost forgot, I present to you our new neighbor who comes to visit us from time to time. He is not shy at all and loves to hide under the house. This is a Tattoo:

Does Bluetooth Work With Nextel 2way

Quebec and Montreal buy the Bell Centre!

Nope, it's not true. It's just the title of a text by Martin Leclerc, on his blog Rue Frontenac. Still, the sarcasm is fashionable, and sent many critics. Go take a look !
It feels good sometimes to know that politicians defend tooth and nail the real interests of the people. Because it feels good from time to time, write a short text in the second degree.
In response to the reporter's conclusion: that also does well, from time to time to read!

DIY Valentine's Day: the sweet words

A board of small hearts: Click for larger view and print it.

Then you break them and drag them in strategic places on D-day: in the pockets of his jacket, his wallet in the glove box, under the napkin in the restaurant, on the pillow .. .
Or hanging with a pretty ribbon to a doorknob, a bouquet on your wrist, below your ... Or placed around the house to do a treasure hunt (you frozen and you heat, you burn) ... Or garland ...

And of course, do not forget to write a quick note on those big soft confetti of love, such as:

Who is this Valentine?
I the only one I like is you
.

No need to be 14 February to celebrate love.
With you it's every day
.

Good for one ( to complete depending on your imagination ) that you will remember.

How Long Is The Contract For Navy

Pensacola

My second step United States was held in Pensacola, Florida 10 to 27 January 2011. As you read earlier, the first two weeks of my internship was devoted to comprehensive medical examinations (dentist, radio, blood test, vision test, etc.) with a 4-day weekend in the middle where we we left Miami. My appointment is usually very early in the morning, I finished my day around 11am every day, which allowed us to visit the area around Pensacola. We went to Pensacola Beach, a large resort in the southern United States, very popular in summer. Beach very fine white sand is beautiful and takes several tens of kilometers. Unfortunately at this time of year we could not enjoy as it should be this place but we will have the opportunity to return this summer.

After a week in a hotel in town, we have once again moved to get a room on base that had just been released. The room was pretty basic, we had a fridge and a microwave to cook for us but it was much less expensive than staying at the hotel. So the menu for two weeks: U.S. delicious entrees! As you can see the meal is served ...

We also went to visit the National Museum of Naval Aviation is based in Pensacola, therefore just minutes from our room. This museum is huge warehouses filled with several aircraft of all types that have marked the history of U.S. naval aviation. Here is a small preview:

My last week in contrast, was much more responsible with my training program at sea survival:
Monday, I joined a class of 40 students Cockpit U.S. Navy and Marines for nearly 2 hours of theory on the use of sea survival equipment with which I will fly to the U.S.. Then placed in! After donning a flight suit, shoes, gloves, helmet and life jacket, steering the bay just outside the base for a training size of the marine survival over 10 by raft. For those who wondered if the water is good in winter in Pensacola, the answer is no!

The afternoon was spent learning the arrival by parachute on our good old earth after ejecting from the aircraft. We started with a virtual simulator. Strapped as if you were attached to the parachute, helmet is equipped with a screen that simulates your fall. It is not wrong. Finally towards a land full of gravel when you train it to land by parachute. The goal is to learn to jump into the gravel without getting hurt and higher and higher.

Tuesday and Wednesday, still a lot of lectures on stress, accelerations, first aid, the delusions, a ride on the ejection seat simulator and an hour in a decompression chamber to recognize and react to symptoms of hypoxia. For those who are not familiar with these terms, hypoxia in medicine is a lack of oxygen in the body. Given that the higher the altitude the less oxygen, this machine simulates a climb to 25000 feet (7600m) fast enough and we take off our oxygen masks one after the other. At this altitude our time of useful consciousness is about 5 min and it is increasingly difficult to make several simple actions simultaneously. For example the result of simple addition as 5 + 5 + 7 meet on some 22 of them! The goal is to realize yourself that something is wrong and to verify the oxygenation system of the aircraft.

Thursday morning towards the pool for the last training day. Training program at the hoist, training upon arrival in water with a parachute and a simulated helicopter crash. This exercise is by far the hardest. Six people move into the cabin at the same time and must exit through the windows. You harness your seat and prepare yourself for impact. The cab then descends into the pool and begins to turn. So you find yourself upside the head, under water, clinging to your seat. The goal is to open the window once submerged, to a reference point, to win the seat and find the right exit. The key word in this kind of exercise is to stay calm and especially not panic!

The internship was completed at noon and in the crowd I had the right to traditional graduation. The ceremony was rather quick as I was the only graduate!

After the ceremony, we packed our bags and went directly to Meridian. We thought we had seen everything in terms of how to conduct U.S. but here we were not disappointed. Notice to people who have come to us and lead the U.S., do not be surprised if you get overtaking on the highway, here people transport their dogs on the roof of their car, it's certainly less messy!
