During the centennial flood of Monday, February 4, 1952, I had almost 5 years. This catastrophe was my first public memory. The second summer after the fire was depositing grains Maysonnave Pontix street.

The siren had sounded several times to prevent fire, the residents of Father and ask for help from the population to evacuate the wheat and flour from the mill Papin.
With my parents, we went by car as my dad parked Avenue de la Gare in non-flood.

We went walking to the roundabout father. Crossing the bridge was awesome. I walked into my parents kept me each a hand. The village priest was an island. The river had opened a second reading from Santa Eulalia, he passed under the railway bridge between Man and Farm Road Grenada, then at the current Intermarché, he crossed the road to Mont de Marsan return to her bed Téré after crossing the road to forging Tartas Pédesert.

Such a catastrophe is it possible today?

Answer yes and no yes and even more serious if a dam upstream is broken by an earthquake, such as the blue lake in Bigorre.

NOT a result of rainfall for several reasons.
Firstly because many hillside dams created in the late twentieth century clipped floods unless they are already full.
In 1952, there is the Mill Dam Papin which is the water table downstream from the stone bridge about 2 meters. Even if the bridge rebuilt in 1970 reduced the flow of water, the flood drains much faster downstream of the disappearance of the dam Papin. To facilitate this phenomenon
evacuation of water, it would nevertheless be wise to cut down all the trees that grew in the riverbed.

What would be the height of water in the stone bridge over the flood level if a 1952 year flood type recur?

To answer this question, we must assume that the surface of the water passing the bridge of stone Dax has not changed since its construction in the early nineteenth century. Thus, the scale of flood Dax is reliable because it is constant.
I will consider three major floods:
Saint Sever 1952 with the existence of the dam Papin
1971 and 1981 without the dam Papin.
You could compare the water level in Dax and St Sever in 1952, 1971 and 1981 and extrapolated to approximate with a new type Raw 1952 on Saint-Sever.
1952 Dax Saint-Sever M 6.52 4.60 M 19.2 m difference
1971 Dax Saint-Sever 5.56 M 2.70 M 2.86 M difference
1981 Dax 3.6 M Saint-Sever difference 2.30 m 3.73 M

If a new flood type 1952 (the second largest flood on the scale of Dax) arrived on the river, there would be around 3.25 m in Saint-Sever is about 1.50 meter less than in 1952.
Nevertheless, it is likely that water will flood the stadium at least 50 cm, is near the parking lot of Intermarket, will surround the ring, will carry all the trees located downstream from the stone bridge and threaten the rear of the father's house. Indeed, the gates protecting the river district of Coulaquère are in ruins.

But yes my good sir, there was an anticline Audignon! And why not?
Mont de Marsan has been a prefecture in 1790, there was a bishop in St. Papoul from 1317 to 1802, a sub-prefect of Lombez 1790 to 1926 and the shield of Brennus in Quillan in 1929 ...

Now we completely change of scale, we no longer speak to century but in tens of thousands of centuries or more in MILLION YEARS (MA)
Our Audignon
anticline is still not isolated in the region, he lives with those of Vic Bihl of Pécorade, Riscle of Tercis, Saint Lon Mines, with diapirs Dax of Thétieu of Basten and the dome of Rent. These organizations around the synclinorium of Arzacq also called for extending Chalosse Gamarde in Vic en Bigorre. The

filling Chalosse belongs to the Alpine cycle, initiation covers the Triassic (between 245 and 205 million years AD) and is expanding to the Cretaceous (135-65 AD) and senescence in the Eocene or the Oligo-Miocene (53-40 MA).

One example, the limestone quarry at Arcet Montaut were formed by sediment in the sea at the Danian (65 to 60 MA). Dinosaurs no longer existed for some MA.

The climax comes at the end of the Eocene (34 AD). Pyrenean tightening leads to very many shots and very strong earthquakes, structure oriented east - west and in particular our anticline. In

Miocene (23.5 to 5 AM), there is a small mountain about 200 to 250 meters in elevation between the ocean and St. Sever its gulfs in Hagetmau.

The structure is asymmetrical with a north side (between Saint-Sever and Audignon) broke and collapsed against the southern flank (between Audignon and Doazit) with significant dips in the Cretaceous Paleocene series.

The anticline extends to the east by a periclinal (Sarraziet Fargues).

Middle Miocene, our little peninsula is eroded (13 Ma) and the sea transgresses, the continued erosion in the Late Miocene (6 Ma) and Pliocene (5.3 to 1.65 MA). Then the tawny sands Chalosse appear and gradually the original Pyrenean Molasse sedimentation continues in synclinal areas. In

quaternary (1.65 MA-present), the landscape becomes one we know today with huge changes in vegetation due to climatic conditions very different.

It is worth recalling the successive climates:
- before the Triassic 245 Ma: equatorial climate
- Triassic to the middle Eocene (205-50 AD):
tropical climate - the Oligocene (34 to 23.5 MA): desert climate
- Quaternary (1.65 MA at least 10000 years): alternating ice and warmer periods

Since the death of your husband in the dark forest
Widow, your home becomes catacomb.
I saw your children
They played with tanks of tyrants! And you
old liberal cacochyme
Your age forces you to bend your spine.
On the mantel, your gun is sleeping.
Your country in the hands of tyrants,
You wait quietly death.
Where are your freedoms of yesteryear?

A Jewish, Polish, black and Aztec
Today added sadly
Chileans, Spaniards, Greeks, Russian and Czech.
Freedom, how have you been lovers?

Young slave will see the old senile
Takes his gun and his advice, you
cache before they t'exilent.
Patriarch will tell you before his last sleep
The tyrants will give you bread and circuses,
But you miss the freedom to be happy.
Beat you to the child without a father,
For the widow and the aged who hope.

Soon the dawn will be red
This will be the sign of people moving
So, with its attendant hatred, implacable
storm comes, suddenly.

C: Chalosse

Highway night for badgers and advancing along the Gabas, I finally understood why I could hear croaking laugh

IS CHALOSSE?

A Gascon Township Montfort, expatriate in Paris area were contacted, once the Municipality of Saint-Sever for limitations is Chalosse.

I wanted the challenge. First, I removed the fake internal divisions. The alleged high Chalosse it is not lower than that without attributes? There is only Chalosse that rises in altitude from 15 meters south of Dax, peaking at 205 meters or 210 meters to Mant ... Cabidos!

Asked what are the limits of Chalosse, one and indivisible? It looks fast: small area south of the Adour surrounded by Tursan, the Bearn and the Pays d'Orthe.

I tried to establish the boundaries of this region of hills and moors near one kilometer. But that distinction is the result of arbitrary choices:
- the northern limit I set at the foot of the hills which made me rule out the valley of the Adour therefore while the "low Auribat (Onard, Vicq, St John's link, Préchacq, Rent, and clove), Dax and Yzosse. For the past 2 Commons, the limit is very difficult to determine.
- the Land of Orthe is logically excluded.

But I can not hide the connection of the 7 municipalities chalossaises Basses Pyrenees in 1790: LACADEE, LABEYRIE, ST MÉDARD, ARGET, MONTAGUT, Cabidos AND MALAUSSANNE. The lack of a proper road network to the Landes and unable to find a common sizeable south-east of Hagetmau to accommodate a canton in part explains the separation. In the Middle Ages, the English garrisoned at Poudenx. During the War of 1939 1945, because of the line this village of 200 souls had a market.

In this regard, Poursiugues-Boucoue, COUBLUCQ AND Pouliacq were, too, separated in the same period of Tursan.

So I box the names of these 10 municipalities and have drawn a dotted line to include such lands chalossaises irredentist.

Thus our Chalosse extends 62 km in its greatest length and 25 in its greatest width. Because of its small size, there is nothing to break it.

I realize that my choice will trigger arbitrary pronouncements especially for the left bank of the river and Lower Auribat Dax.
